Triúr is inspired by Irish bodhran rhythms and the minimal concept of building a piece brick by brick. With challenging hocket rhythms and a very slow test of rhythmic subdivision, Triúr requires all three players to think as one. Writing this piece was an exciting challenge to explore non-melodic motives and conceptualize as many possible sounds with only a few instruments. It is scored for three percussionists, each playing a tom and an auxiliary instrument (bongos, tambourine, and suspended cymbal respectively.
