Reagan Casteel (she/her)
is a vocal coach, music director, composer, arranger, and pianist based in New York, NY.
Reagan most recently served as Associate MD for I Can Get It For You Wholesale (Classic Stage), Music Assistant for Once Upon a One More Time (B’way), and Dancin’ (B’way). She was a sub keyboard player in all three productions, and conducted frequently at …Wholesale. Some of Reagan’s other music direction credits include Head Over Heels (Lyric Theatre OK), the New Bronchos Showcase (University of Central Oklahoma), Gone Missing (University of Rochester International Theatre Program), Into the Woods (UR ROC Players), and Next to Normal (UR ROC Players). She spent her summer in 2021 as Associate MD at Parallel45 in Traverse City Michigan (You’re… Charlie Brown, The Sound of Music), and worked in 2022 as Associate MD at Lyric Theatre OK (Matilda, Carousel, Kinky Boots). She has also had extensive experience with opera, serving as Assistant MD for OCU’s productions of The Consul, The Threepenny Opera, and Little Women, as well as Painted Sky Opera’s productions of As One and Pagliacci.
She maintains an active coaching studio and is passionate about providing clients with a comfortable space to take risks. She views her coaching role as collaborative, and works in each coaching to help singers find more intentional musical choices that align with their individual storytelling goals.
Reagan is interested in composing all genres of contemporary classical music, with a special passion for art song and chamber music. Her influences include a wide range of “favorite musics” from minimalism to bluegrass to jazz to musical theatre, and she has a particular fascination with the audience experience of temporality and narrative. Reagan has most recently completed a song cycle for Soprano and chamber ensemble (Of Life) and a set for soprano and piano (For the Times), as well as the release of her first indie folk single, Questions and Answers.
Reagan holds a BM in Composition from the Eastman School of Music, where she studied with Carlos Sanchez-Gutierrez, Ricardo Zohn-Muldoon, and David Liptak, and a MM in Vocal Coaching from Oklahoma City University where she studied with Jan McDaniel.
